Charlie’s visit

This week, we have had Charlie up visiting to help us in the next stage of developing the route.
Developing a coastal walking route is not without its challenges, there are many things to consider such as:

  • Farm land and livestock
  • Wildlife and flora
  • Availability of safe coastline and how this may change
  • Walkers safety
  • Tides and shorelines

Charlie has a wealth of experience which he is using to help us figure out some possible trail routes, and infrastructure or maintenance that may be required to make it as safe and as accessible as possible. This is a really exciting occasion in the development, as Charlie’s survey will help us envision how the trail may look in the coming years.

This week has been reminiscent of the children’s book ‘We Are Going On a Bear Hunt’ – ‘We can’t go over it. We can’t go under it, Oh No! We have got to go through it!’. An unfortunate gorse bush situation springs to mind! There has been many moments of head scratching and pondering so far but also moments of joy at the surrounding views or finding a J for John O’Groats.

So far, the weather has been on our side with only a few showers, so keep your fingers crossed for us this coming week for sun (but not so much that Ken gets sunburnt!).
