Stage 4: Scrabster to Reay

Distance: 8 miles | 13 kilometers

Scrabster to Forss Energy Park (In time this stage will finish in Reay)

This section of the North Coast Trail is where we start to gain and maintain some elevation, and the majority of the trail is now on the dramatic cliff tops of Caithness. The coastline here is truly spectacular, offering great views out west and north over to Orkney, taking in numerous points of interest, the iconic Holborn Head Lighthouse, Brims Castle and St Mary’s Chapel to name a few! We are currently working on a safe continuation of this route which bypasses the Dounreay site, a nuclear power plant being decommissioned, which will link Forss to the village of Reay.
