Charlie’s visit

This week, we have had Charlie up visiting to help us in the next stage of developing the route. Developing a coastal walking route is not without its challenges, there are many things to consider such as: Farm land and livestock Wildlife and flora Availability of safe coastline and how this may change Walkers safety Tides and shorelines Charlie has a wealth of experience which he is using to help us figure out some possible trail routes, and infrastructure or maintenance that may be required to make it as safe and as accessible as possible. Final community consultation in Reay

The other week, we held our final community consultation in Reay. During this period I have met fantastic members of the Caithness community, who have graciously given us their time to share their thoughts and ideas. Generally the feedback has been positive and those with concerns have been supportive in offering suggestions or alternatives- sometimes this has been the most helpful for us! Some of the concerns raised were surrounding preserving the environment for flora and fauna to continue to thrive along the coast. Community consultation drop-in sessions

We want to hear from you, the community of Caithness! The North Coast Trail is a long distance walking trail proposed for the north coast of Scotland. It will connect for the John O’Groats Trail, finishing out west in Cape Wrath linking up to the Cape Wrath Trail. Walkers can soak up some of Scotland’s best coastal scenery and wildlife along the 150 mile route which can be divided into 13 day stages for those keen long distance walkers or smaller local sections for an afternoon walk.
